The Association for Gerontology & Human Development in Historically Black Colleges & Universities, a professional non-profit 501(c)(3) was established in 1980. AGHD-HBCU utilizes the expertise & resources of HBCU's (Historically Black Colleges & Universities) to assist agencies & organizations in developing programs to better serve African Americans & other minority groups.
AGHD-HBCU promotes program & research development via public & private collaborations. We also provide information forums on exemplary teaching & research in African American/ minority gerontology & geriatric groups. Advocating the inclusion of gerontology issues among racially diverse populations in education and training programs is also a huge objective at AGHD-HBCU. Creating career opportunities for African American / minority researchers & service providers in the aging field is our ultimate goal.
